Code of Conduct

Here are the most important rules at Escuela ad astra, including some (not so hard to understand) examples of what is meant by them.

1. Respect for all

Students are expected to treat their teachers, fellow students, and school staff with respect. This means no name-calling, no bullying, and no throwing of temper tantrums when you don’t get the last cookie at snack time.

2. Punctuality

Students should arrive at school on time and be ready to learn. Sleeping in and showing up halfway through math class is a no-no.

3. Honesty

Students should be truthful in all their dealings with the school. This means no cheating on tests, no lying about homework, like claiming the dog ate your term paper when you just forgot to write it.

4. Responsibility

Students are expected to take responsibility for their actions and belongings. This means cleaning up after yourself, and taking care of your school supplies.

5. Dress Code

The school doesn’t have a dress code per se. This still means no pajamas in class, and no wearing your favorite superhero costume to school (unless it’s a special occasion).

6. Electronic Devices

Students are allowed to use electronic devices responsibly and in accordance with the school’s rules. This means no texting in class, no playing video games during recess, and no using your smartwatch to cheat on tests.

7. Safety

Students are expected to follow all safety rules and procedures. This means no climbing on the roof to catch a glimpse of the sunset, and no bringing your pet tarantula to school for show and tell.

8. Discipline

Students are expected to follow the school’s disciplinary procedures. This means accepting the consequences of your actions, whether it’s a time-out, a detention, or a stern talking-to from the principal.

9. Respect for Property

Students should respect the school’s property and the property of others. This means no scribbling on the walls, no breaking school equipment, and no “borrowing” your classmate’s lunch without asking.

10. Positive Attitude

Students are expected to approach their education with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. This means no complaining about homework, and no declaring that you’re “too cool” for school.

That’s why we have:

  • Attendance Policy: Because showing up is half the battle.
  • Dress Code: Because wearing pajamas to class is only acceptable in a dream.
  • Code of Conduct: Because we can’t have students re-enacting the Battle of Waterloo during lunch.
  • Anti-Bullying Policy: Because everyone deserves a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Academic Honesty Policy: Because cheating on tests is a no-no.
  • Electronic Device Policy: Because texting in class is a distraction.
  • Disciplinary Policy: Because actions have consequences.
  • Health and Safety Policy: Because climbing on the roof to catch a glimpse of the sunset is not safe.
  • Food Policy: Because sharing lunch is encouraged, but “borrowing” without asking is not.
  • Parental Involvement: Because parents are a crucial part of a student’s education, and they need to know the rules too.
